Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
